Case files concerning the Unemployment Compensation Act, 1936-1937.

This series consists of case files dealing with court cases relating to the Ala. Unemployment Compensation Act of 1935. Several corporations sued the state to contest the constitutionality of the law, claiming that it violated both the U.S. and Ala. Constitutions in several particulars. Two of the cases (Gulf States Paper Corp. vs. Carmichael and Carmichael vs. Southern Coal and Coke) were heard by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1936. The files contain carbon copies of writs and other forms and printed copies of the decisions of the Ala. Supreme Court.
